Habits on a hard day

What are you bare essential habits and what are the ones that you aim for on a great day?

Do you have days where you are feeling exhausted, your period might be due soon or you’ve been up with kids? Then you get frustrated that you haven’t stuck to your typical habits for the day?

I don’t think we are built to have the same habits every single day.

While I was on my morning walk I started to think about what habits I have been implementing lately and what ones have been getting left behind. I’m currently in the luteal phase of my cycle which can be a struggle for me due to PMDD (Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder). I’m often feeling extreme exhaustion and depressed. On these days I often feel frustrated that I’m not sticking to my habit plan.

I started to analyse which habits are my bare essential ones (or the ones I want to be essential!). I noticed that meditation is often one of the first to get left behind, even though this would be extremely helpful during these weeks of my cycle.

As I was getting near the end of my walk I came up with a list of my bare essential habits that were either deeply ingrained in my day already or required little effort to do and reaped significant rewards (yes, I’m looking at you meditation!).

I’m now going to focus on doing my bare essentials list during days where I am exhausted and then doing my current habit stack when my energy is high.

What would be on your bare essentials list?
